What do penicillin and X-rays have in common? They were both discovered by accident. In this welcome keynote, Vidya explores how important insights often emerge not from perfect plans, but from unexpected observations and the curiosity to pursue them. Drawing on examples from science, language, and data, she highlights how ambiguity and imperfection shape discovery. As tools increasingly optimize for answers, this talk reflects on the need to preserve space for exploration and human judgment, and how imperfection can act as a catalyst for innovation.
